Joanne reached out to our group page @The Ring Finders New Jersey after her husband lost his gold ring while setting up their beach cabana. I was also tagged multiple times on another local page. The BEST part of contacting our group page is that there is typically always someone available, no matter where you are located along the NJ coastline a member of our team is typically always available. Joannes message was sent out to me as I am literally 10 minutes from Cape May, The Wildwoods, Stone Harbor, & Avalon. • Lost white gold wedding ring, FOUND! Brigantine, New Jersey

Tyler reached out explaining that he lost his wedding band while enjoying some family time on the beach. Tyler had placed his ring in the compartment of his beach chair while apllying sunscreen. Later in the day another family member began “packing up” to head home from the beach and folded the chair causing the ring to fall into the sand. While walking back from the beach Tyler realized what had happened and the group returned to where they were sitting and began searching for the ring with no success. They had charter boat reservations BUT Tyler and I communicated before he left for his reservation and he was able to send me the coordinates to where they were sitting. I normally do most of my assistance in Cape May County but I was available, and decided to take the 45 minute ride up to Brigantine. Once on the beach I followed my device to the coordinates that Tyler sent and recovered his ring in less than a minute. After recovering the ring I arranged an agreeable spot to leave the ring at Tylers rental and he had it back in his possession upon returning back from their charter. Another happy client!

  • Black Diamond / Tungsten wedding ring, FOUND! Cape May, NJ

Received a call from Amber. Amber explained that her husband lost his wedding ring while playing in the surf and getting “rolled” by a wave. Amber said she had someone else out to look for it and he could not locate the ring. After gathering details and checking tide and surf data I decided that Tuesday afternoons low tide would be a good time to try for the ring. Shortly after arriving at the beach I began a “meticulous” searh grid from the wet sand down into the surf. About 45 minutes later I had the ring in my scoop. The waves were pretty rough and I myself got “washed” a few times but still managed a successful recovery. Another happy couple!

We hiked up to White Oak Canyon to do some exploring. Of course, the detector and gear is always in tow, lol. While at the canyon falls I was doing some snorkeling and diving and came upon a GoPro at the bottom of a pool beneath the falls. After returning home I pulled the SD card and reviewed the footage to see if I could figure out whom it belonged to. This footage included the moment it snapped off the end of the selfie stick and sank to the bottom of the pool, lol. After a little digging and close audio listening I was able to track down the owner thru a FB page. Spoke with the owner whom was shocked that I was able to find the GoPro and the owner. The GoPro is on its way back to the owner after 2+months at the bottom of the falls, and yes with a fresh battery the GoPro fired right up!! 7/15/2021

Lost ring recovered, Stone Harbor, NJ

After speaking with the caller, Suzanne, she explained that one of her daughters, Sophie, had placed her ring in the cup holder of a beach chair while at the beach with family yesterday afternoon. Later in the day one of Sophies sisters folded the chair and carried it off the beach unaware that her sisters ring was in the cup holder. Shortly after realizing what had happened, panic ensued. Suzanne attempted to find her daughters ring herself by renting a detector and searching for three + hours with no luck. After gathering some details I met with Suzanne today. After about 45-60 minutes I had the ring back in her possession. 6/9/2021

Wedding ring lost DURING CEREMONY, Stone Harbor, NJ Recovered!!

Well it goes without saying that you never know what kind of events may lead up to a ring getting lost. This story is no exception. On May 8th I was contacted by the best man of a wedding party. He explained that during the couples ceremony, at a bayside resort, he had accidentally dropped the brides ring onto the deck and it slipped thru the cracks and into the bay! At the time he had called I was headed out to dinner with my family for Mother’s Day and it was just about high tide. After receiving some pictures and descriptions of the area I knew this could be very challenging as the search area was located under a deck / pier that extended over the bulkhead and into the bay. I figured it would be best to wait until dead low tide as the area was in about 12-15’ of water at the moment. Around 12:30am I headed over with a friend whom was lending a hand and met up with the remaining members and guests of the wedding party. Luckily the staff at “The Reeds” in Stone Harbor NJ were awesome at helping to pinpoint the area and provide a floating dock to work from, kind of like Tom Sawyers raft, lol. They even went so far as to remove some of the mahogany decking in an attempt to locate the ring. Obviously the wedding party was devastated over this accident and all reasonable attempts were made to find the dropped ring. You could feel the obvious tension surrounding the events that unfolded and this just drove the determination to a positive outcome further! After making our way down to the dock we boarded the floating dock and paddled under the deck / pier to the approximate area. After checking for about 15-20 minutes I was able to recover the brand new never worn rose gold and diamond band!! Much to my and everyone’s relief! The ring was under some of the structural members in about 2’ of water amongst some horseshoe crabs. The bride, groom, best man and remaining members of the wedding party were ecstatic!! Another happy couple! Congratulations and here’s to a lifetime of happiness!! 5/18/2021

I received a call from Nicole whom explained that she believes that her husband’s white gold ring may have come off while they were tossing a ball back and forth on the beach yesterday. I made arrangements to meet up with Nicole this morning. After the short ride over to Wildwood Crest I met up with Nicole and we walked down to where she thought they were when the ring was lost. Began a search grid pattern and after about 1/2 hour I got a solid signal. I was 98% certain it was the ring. At the same time, a gentleman taking a walk on the beach walked over to see what we were doing. He happened to have his phone out so I told him “you’ll want to record this”, which he did. The rest is self-explanatory. Another happy client. 9/15/2020

Met up with Mark this morning. Luckily he marked out the area pretty well as soon as he lost the ring. Wasn’t quite sure if it was in a garden of tall brush or not but definitely had an idea of the general area. Took about 30-45 minutes but was able to locate the ring in his neighbor’s yard! Yes, I said tooth, lol. Here’s a recovery that’s a little different from a ring or earring..... Received a message from Suzie explaining that her dad lost a tooth while walking onto the beach. They were fairly certain of a general area. Took a ride over and met up with the Suzie and her dad. Tooth had the tiniest bit of metal attached to it so it was “possible”. Took about 45 minutes but came out successful. 8/17/2020

Lost ring Recovered. Cape May, NJ

I was tagged in a post that someone put on a local Social Media page last Sunday. I reached out to Jill (the “poster”) and she called shortly thereafter. After speaking with Jill and her husband she explained that her husband’s ring came off while in the surf tossing a ball. I had Jill and Vin mark out the area on a picture and proceeded down to search for the ring with my buddy around 3:30am on Monday morning. We searched for three hours with no luck. I had a feeling that we may not be in the right area so I reached back out to Vin and he met me down at the beach yesterday to confirm the area in person. After meeting I estimated that we were off by at least 100yards from where we searched the other night. I needed to catch low tide for this search so I took a ride over this afternoon, family in tow, and began searching. The ring was recovered in about waist deep water 45 minutes later. ( I don’t think Jill and Vin actually thought I would find it) lol but they believe now! Another happy couple! 7/8/2020

Passed the clients contact info and details along and Dan took the ride over to Wildwood and began searching. Once there he found several different people searching the exact same area heavily. Undeterred, Dan began searching and recovered the missing ring about an hour later, in darkness. Great job Dan Shustack, I think your hooked. 7/2/2020

Ring lost in ocean, Cape May, NJ, FOUND!

Received a call from client’s wife explaining that her husband had lost his ring while in waist deep surf. Considering that it was about a half hour until low tide I figured now would be the best time to try. Cape May beaches are tricky as a lot of sand moves with each tide cycle and there is a pretty steep shore break which can make recoveries difficult. Took the short ride over and met up with the client. He directed me to the general area where he believed he was when the ring slipped off into the water. The client explained that the ring was fairly thick and believed it to be white gold. Waded out into the surf and about 20 minutes later the detector hit on a solid, loud signal. With a few scoops of sand, I had the ring in the scoop. Another happy client. Pictured is the client’s daughter holding the ring as I did not have my phone with me at the time. 6/24/2020

Lost ring Found Wildwood Crest, New Jersey

Received a call yesterday late morning about a lost wedding ring set. Jess explained that she had taken her ring off and placed it in her wallet which was then placed in her beach bag. At some point during the day she thought one of her kids may have knocked it out of the purse while looking for money for the ice cream man, but neither she or her kids were sure. She had already returned home to PA before realizing that the ring was missing. Jess was able to provide some location details and given the time of day and it’s possible location I thought it would be best to try for it after the crowds had cleared. Took a ride over later in the afternoon and recovered the platinum diamond ring in about 20 minutes. Pending reuniting this weekend. 6/10/2020

  • A smiling woman and man posing on a beach, with the woman pointing to her ring.

4 Lost Rings Recovered, Wildwood Crest NJ

First recovery of 2020 is a success. Received a call from Jackie explaining that she believes she “may” have inadvertently dropped her FOUR rings yesterday while at the beach with her family. After gathering some details I met up with Jackie and her husband, at the beach, about 30 minutes later. This recovery took less than five minutes. Literally walked two steps into the search area and BAM all four popped out of the shallow sand. Jackie broke down immediately, understandably, as one of the four rings belonged to her mother. No hugs due to COVID but super happy to say the least. She is very fortunate that these rings survived in the area they were in for an entire day without being found by a free lance Detectorist. 5/31/2020

  • Man and woman hugging indoors, smiling at the camera.

Ring lost during proposal Found, Cape May, NJ

Received a call from Jordan this evening. Jordan was in the process of proposing to his girlfriend on the beach when the engagement ring evidently fell out of the box unbeknownst to him. After gathering a few details, we setup a time to meet this evening and I headed over. I arrived before Jordan and his father so I decided to take a walk down to see if I could figure out where they may have been. Sure enough the tell tale signs were there so I began searching where I believed they may have been. After a brief 10 minute search I had the ring in my scoop! Here’s the video (it’s very dark) of me reuniting the ring with its owner. All recoveries are emotional for the clients, for many different reasons, and no two are ever the same, but sometimes there are the ones that really make providing this service warm your heart. This is one of them. Happy holidays everyone! 12/21/2019

After taking the ring off it was placed in a bag with some beach towels and other items. At some point the ring was inadvertently flung from the bag when another item was pulled out. Met the couple on the beach, they did a fantastic job of noting their location from yesterday, after about 15 minutes the ring was back on her finger. 8/5/2019

Diamond Stud Recovered Cape May NJ

First recovery of 2019 in the books. Client was tending to his bee hives when the bees suddenly decided, “not today”. A few bees began stinging the client on his ears causing him to swat at his ears resulting in his diamond stud earring getting knocked off from his ear. Initially found the earring back and a 1840 half dime, but given the size of the stud and other targets in proximity I opted for a new 6” narrow coil which concentrates the detector signal and helps to narrow down individual signals. Needless to say this new coil is the bees knees! 5/19/2019

  • Three people smiling and posing on the beach with the ocean in the background, all giving a thumbs-up or pointing gesture.

While out to dinner with family last evening and received a phone call for an engagement band that was lost around 3:30pm. The client lost her band while tossing a football in knee deep water. Platinum band recovered

Received a call for this lost men’s platinum band that was suspected of being dropped from a sunglass case earlier in the day. The high tide was unusually high due to it being a moon tide and at the time the ring was dropped, it was in “dry sand”. The moon tide quickly enveloped this area when it came up making for a spongy wet mess to hunt. The client and her friend had spent quite a bit of time attempting to find the ring themselves on their hands and knees digging. After about and hour hunt, the band was recovered at the edge of the normal high tide line indicating the ring had been moved by the aggressive tide cycle. After taking a look, sure enough that was the one we were searching for. Reunited with its owner this morning. Great find DAN! 8/24/17

Lost ring Ocean City NJ, FOUND!

Mark had lost his white gold band after it slipped out of his cup holder on his beach chair while rinsing it off at the end of the day Tuesday. On Thursday the client and a couple friends rented a detector to attempt to locate the ring themselves. Having no luck on their own, they chose to reach out for assistance. After speaking with Mark I took the short ride up to Ocean City and met with the group. Searched for about an hour and a half with no luck, shortly after everyone had left the beach I ended up snagging the band in the bottom of a ripple trough pool. Another happy couple. 8/10/17

Wedding ring set RECOVERED! Manasquan, NJ

Here's a story on a ring I recovered on Thursday night in Manasquan NJ, including the orig post pleading for assistance. I was able to recover the wedding band and another gentleman was able to get the engagement band early this morning. I wasn't able to post about it until the second ring was found because, as you can see, the "lost / missing" post was shared over 12k times, YES 12k times, and client confidentiality is important aspect of what we do! Not that both have been found and reunited with their owner, here's the complete post. Special shout out to Ed Cropski as well, he too spent over four hours searching for the engagement band as well. This "replenished" beach had CRAZY sand movement and was bringing in and dumping FEET of sand with every tide cycle which was the biggest factor, I believe, affecting successful recovery.

    I watch Recovered and Returned

Went out to assist a client with a ring recovery this past week approx 2hrs from home. More on the ring recovery later.... Anyway, while searching I came across this Apple Watch. Didn't really think it would fair well as it appeared that it had been in the surf for quite sometime. The next day my 7 yr old was looking at the watch and a clock popped up with a little lighting bolt. Luckily a family member had a charger for the watch so I charged it and it sprung back to FULL FUNCTIONAL life!! I was able to locate a contact "Dad" in the address book and gave him a call. "Dad" seemed fairly optimistic when I called, and then said "yes my son lost that while surfing a few weeks ago". The watch will be in the mail on its way back to its owner Monday morning. Never know what's gonna pop up during a hunt folks!

Thank you Chuck for your service (US Army Retired) 8/5/17

    Lost engagement ring, RECOVERED!

Received a call this evening around 9pm for a engagement ring that was lost in the surf around 3:30pm this afternoon. After a brief conversation and a check of the tide tables and radar I decided that this evening would be the best shot considering the rings potential location, crazy strong current on this particular beach, and the fact that I had to travel out of town for most of the day tomorrow. Met up with the caller and her friends and headed down towards the water. Of course as soon as we began making our way down the beach a squall blew in, lol. Began searching the wet sand near the water and then began making my way into the surf. After about 15 minutes I got a nice deep signal and out came this beautiful platinum / diamond engagement ring. These folks may have been the most excited group I have ever come across to date. All in all, the drive over took longer than the recovery, about 15 minutes to get it in the scoop. Another happy client! 8/15/16

    Lost wedding band recovered!

Received a call from a gentleman (Chris) the other day. He said that he lost his wedding band after taking it off to apply sunscreen and left it in the cup holder pocket on the beach chair. He didn't realize that it was still in the pocket until he was back to his hotel room, then realizing that it must have dropped out after folding the chair. This band had some family history since it contained diamonds from his mother in laws ring, so he was anxious to get it back ASAP. Luckily he got my contact info from beach patrol HQ. I met Chris at the beach about 15-20 minutes after getting the call and recovered the ring in about 5 minutes. Happy camper! 9/3/15

Wedding set RECOVERED in Wildwood Crest NJ

Received a call for a lost engagement & wedding ring (fused together) yesterday. After gathering some details from the caller it was learned that the ring was most likely already underwater since the caller believed that it was in the wet sand and lost near low tide, (or so we thought). So we decided that this afternoons low tide would be a good time to shoot for it. I arrived about 2 hrs before dead low tide and hunted a large area (approx 50 X 50 yards)for about 2 hrs, in the wet, with no luck. The client was not entirely sure when she dropped the ring but thought it was in the wet sand. So the day was getting late and the dry sand was finally beginning to clear off from beach goers and even the client was loosing hope fast. I still had plenty of daylight left so when the client approached me to tell me that she was leaving to meet with family I decided to hunt the dry area now that it was vacant. The client literally made it to the end of the beach access ramp and BINGO, snagged it! Another happy reunion and satisfied client. 8/19/15

Custom made piece recovered for owner

Recovered this HUGE Silver Sapphire / Topaz pendant with a silver chain for a gentleman today. Story goes, His late night 2AM swimming adventure was cut short by PD. As he was being ushered off of the beach he didn’t realize that he left his Jewelry behind in the sand. He had returned last night and frantically searched the area after he realized that he had left it behind, but could not locate it. This piece had huge sentimental value as he created and made this piece himself and had a few interested buyers for it. Lucky for him another detectorist didnt grab this one before it was recovered as it was in the prime detecting zone. There were indications of another detectorist had been in the area, but if ya miss by an inch ya miss by a mile........... 9/21/14

Emotional night leads to a lost ring......

This particular recovery had an interesting story as to how it came to be lost. I received a call while out to dinner with the family. The female caller stated that she had lost her engagement ring and needed some assistance to locate it. There was a very odd persona thruout this conversation, regardless, I gathered the location info, swung home to get the detectors, and headed over to meet up. I met the caller on the promenad and she stated that while walking down the promenad together her fiancé had disclosed some "information" thus causing the soon to be bride to take off her engagement ring and throw it overhand into a dune. Apparently this ring was a family heirloom and once the "female hysteria" wore off she realized what she had just done. Anyway, she had pointed me to the "general" area where she thought it may be and I set off into the dune. This dune was covered in a mixture of weeds and dune grass about 3ft high with plenty of creepy crawlies. It was fairly dense veg, so traditional search patterns and techniques were not going to work here. She had "narrowed" the area down to approx. an area measuring 40 x 20 yards. Figured out a pattern that worked and pressed on. After about 45 min we had about 10 other people that had seen what was happening and joined in to "help". They were using cell phones as flashlights which I found entertaining, but hey, help is help. So after about 2 hrs the novelty of the search wore off and I found myself alone searching thru the dune (which I prefer anyway). The caller had even got bored and left me her number in case I found it. I explained that sometimes these things take a while but I would keep at it. She said, well you dont have to it may be gone forever, So after about another 20 minutes of hunting I finally got the signal i was searching for and sure enough, out pops the white gold and diamond ring. The young lady's fiancé picked it up the next day as they had already drove back home after leaving the night before. Not sure how they ended up personally, but at least the family ring was back to its owners.......

    Dans Ring

Well todays recovery was my toughest yet. This ring was lost over three weeks ago and I recovered it today in chest deep water. This particular Cape May Point beach has a very steep slope and it is VERY rough during low tide. At high tide it is bad due to the sudden shallow water that causes the waves to come in like bombs. I have worked this beach at least 18 hrs total over the past few weeks trying to find this ring. So today I decided to take the family there with the hopes of searching during the "Mid tide" change and it paid off. The owner has been notified and was overjoyed as this particular 14k diamond ring was a gift from his mother for his 60th birthday. Persistence paid off in this particular situation! 9/5/14
